I always tell couples that they will feel a little awkward for the first few minutes of an engagement session. I also pride myself in being able to get couples to relax and not worry about people watching or how odd a certain pose may feel. So it’s always nice to get a little note afterwards letting me know how they felt. Selena sent me this shortly after, “Ben and I were talking afterwards about how comfortable you made us feel and how easy it was to work with you. We are looking forward to having you with us for our wedding day!” It’s notes like these that let me know that I am on the right track for the wedding day.
Originally from Winnipeg, Selena was introduced to Ben shortly after she moved to Toronto. They actually met briefly on a previous visit to Toronto about a year earlier but it wasn’t until her cousin, Ben’s best friend since high school, re-introduced them on this particular visit. A phone number was exchanged and soon they were dating and then the big “ask” from Ben came a few years later.
Ever the gentleman and with family being so import to both of them, Ben planned a surprise proposal with both sets of parents present. While out on the town for dinner, Ben found moment alone with Selena’s dad and ask permission to marry her. They returned to Ben’s parents’ house for desert and to browse through some vacation photos. It was there with Selena by his side and both parents present that Ben proposed to Selena.
If you don’t recognize the location it’s High Park and for you out of towers it’s located on the west side of downtown Toronto just north of Lake Ontario. It’s Toronto’s Central Park, just not as central or as large.
