Jane & Ian | Wedding | Toronto

Like many couples getting married in downtown Toronto on June 26, their plans were turned upside down due to the G20 summit. What could have been a nightmare of a wedding turned out to be a wonderful day for Jane and Ian.

The day started at the Westin prince hotel with Jane getting ready with her two bridesmaids. From there we headed to The Church of St. Timothy for the ceremony. Despite being restricted to shooting at the back of the church I was able to get some cool bird’s eye view shots from the balcony. After some family portraits at the church we headed up to one of my favorite restaurants, Auberge du Pommier for the afternoon reception. It was a classy low key affair with close friends and family and some hilarious and touching speeches. Jane & Ian had crammed in some dance lessens the week before their wedding to put on a put on a fun first dance that had the crowd laughing and cheering.

We had plans to do wedding party portraits at James Garden but the rain put a damper on it so we headed back to the Westin Prince Hotel and took advantage of what the building had to offer us.

Enjoy the photos and feel free to leave a comment and share with Facebook and Twitter!

Lesley & Andrew | Wedding | Toronto

Something about this wedding just said black and white to me so for this entry I decided to do something a little different and post only black and white candid photos.

Lesley and Andrew’s marriage was 19 years in the making. She was the new girl from Montreal and Andrew still remembers the day she walked into their grade 8 class room. Other than a first kiss that year they were good friends throughout high school and university. A casual dinner at the Keg led to regular Friday dinners.

A mutual friend’s wedding in Mexico brought them closer together and soon after that they were a couple! A couple of years later they skipped the apartment thing and bought a house together and eventually found themselves back at their old school where they had first met and became engaged when Andrew popped the question!

Ryan and I arrived at the InterContinental hotel in Toronto’s Yorkville area and started the day as usual photographing Lesley and her bridesmaids getting ready in the Conservatory room with Makeup Artist Jackie Gideon while Andrew and the groomsmen were in another room.

Once ready we did a first for me “First Look” by a large widow and grand stairwell. For you planning brides to be out there, I highly recommend the “First Look” and the formals be done before the ceremony, you will have some awesome photos and be so much more relaxed too!

After the First look we quickly ran through some formals portraits that were cut a little short because of some major RCMP/OPP security escorted traffic in and around Yorkville.

For the ceremony Lesley and Andrew put on a modern twist to the usual civil proceedings with their own music and a bit of a dance for the procession along with their own words and story for their vows. After the ceremony we entered the room to watch Lesley & Andrews first dance, had an amazing dinner and heard some oh so funny speeches, specially by Andrew’s father. From there the party began and ended the night with everyone dancing up a storm!

Lesley and Andrew you guys put on an awesome wedding and have such great family and friends, I’m glad I was your photographer for your wedding!

The photos really brought to life all the special things that happened that day that seem to fade from your memory as time passes – and now we have them captured forever in such a beautiful way. Thanks again!

Trish & Vik | Engagement | Burlington

Burlington Ontario, what a great little city! Other than a wedding I once attended I’ve never really been there so when Trish and Vik wanted their engagement photos in their home town I obliged.

They met at McMaster Hospital back in 2005 when Vik started his residency and Trish started working as a researcher in Pediatric Oncology. A random conversation led to chats over coffee, then walks by the waterfront and vacations to explore the world and 3 years later a proposal.

Trish and Vik are currently living in Boston where Vik, a radiologist is training at Harvard Medical School while Trish gets to enjoy the sights, sounds and of course as she mentioned and something my own wife would love, shopping!

Anyhow, Burlington and their old condo still hold a special place in their heart. The landlord graciously let us in to take some photos and preserve some of the memories of their first home. From there we walked the vicinity of the condo and the waterfront where they used to hang out and study together. We also ended the night on the roof top of the condo to take in the warm summer sunset and enjoy the view.

I love comments so feel free to leave some in the space below and don’t forget to “like”, “tweet” and share this post!
